What to do when a death occurs

You do not need to understand every option before you call us.
Some families already know they want burial. Some know they want cremation. Others are trying to work out what kind of service is right. Start wherever you are, and we will take it from there.

We can help with cemetery property, burial arrangements, graveside services and permanent memorials at American Heritage Cemetery. Our grounds cover more than 30 acres and include traditional burial, cremation memorialization and veteran property.

Cremation
Cremation takes place here on our campus. After your loved one comes into our care, they are not transferred to an outside crematory. You can choose direct cremation, a funeral before the cremation, or a memorial service afterward.
A funeral or memorial service
A service is not a separate choice from burial or cremation. It can go with either one.
Services can be held in our chapel, at your own church or place of worship, or graveside at the cemetery. We will help you plan the service itself and everything that has to happen around it.

A few things worth knowing
When a family loses a child
For babies one year old and under, there is no charge for the basic services of funeral director and staff, and no charge for the funeral ceremony. We donate a simple casket or urn, and a grave space in Babyland.
Upgrades are charged — an upgraded casket or urn, a space outside Babyland, taking our staff off-site, and grave markers.
For children under twelve, the basic services fee is reduced by half.

Veteran cemetery property
Veteran property is available in our Garden of Calvary: $2,000 for an upright monument space and $1,695 for a flat monument space. Immediate family property is available in the same garden.
We will also help you file for the benefits your family is entitled to, and coordinate military funeral honors.

One campus, one local team
Our funeral home, cemetery and crematory sit on the same property on North FM 1788. One team here can handle the service, the cremation if you choose it, the cemetery arrangements, the burial and the marker.
You are not sent somewhere else, and you are not handed off.
