American Heritage Cemetery

American Heritage Cemetery covers more than 30 acres on FM 1788, between Midland and Odessa, with Gardendale just to the north. Families come to us from all three.

The grounds include a pond, mature trees and open West Texas sky. Our funeral home and crematory are on the same property.

We are family owned and have been serving Midland, Odessa and West Texas families since 2007.

What cemetery property costs

Garden of Peace is the main cemetery section we are currently selling.

Garden of Peace grave — $3,500
Garden of Peace perimeter grave — $4,000

Perimeter graves are those bordering the sidewalk or along the outer edges of the garden. Perimeter pricing applies only in Garden of Peace.

The price is the same whether you choose an upright monument or a flat marker. Garden of Peace allows both.

Perpetual care is included in the price of the grave. Grave markers and monuments are sold separately.

What else is part of a casket burial

The grave itself is only one part of the cemetery cost.

Texas law does not require an outer burial container. American Heritage Cemetery does require a grave liner or burial vault for casket burial to help prevent the grave from sinking. Outer burial containers start at $1,195.

Opening and closing of a full grave is $1,395, Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. After-hours, weekend and holiday opening and closing adds $500.

A standard cemetery package

Our standard cemetery package is $6,090:

$3,500 Garden of Peace grave
$1,195 basic outer burial container
$1,395 weekday opening and closing

That package uses standard Garden of Peace property and weekday opening and closing. Property in another section, an upgraded outer burial container, or burial outside weekday hours changes the total.

A grave marker is separate.

Cemetery sections

Garden of Peace

Garden of Peace is our primary section for currently available property.

Graves are $3,500, or $4,000 for perimeter property bordering the sidewalk or the outer edges of the garden.

Garden of Peace allows both upright monuments and flat markers, and the price of the grave is the same either way.

Garden of Calvary

Garden of Calvary is our veteran section.

For veteran property, we require a DD-214 showing an honorable discharge. Immediate family of an eligible veteran property owner may also purchase property in Garden of Calvary.

Upright monument space — $2,000
Flat monument space — $1,695

The honorable-discharge requirement is an American Heritage Cemetery property rule for Garden of Calvary. It is separate from VA benefit eligibility.

Garden of Love and Garden of Grace

Garden of Love and Garden of Grace have limited remaining availability.

Garden of Love property is currently $4,000 in the upright section and $3,500 in the flat section. Garden of Grace has upright monument property at $3,000.

Ask us what is currently available if you are interested in either section.

Babyland

Babyland is the cemetery section set aside for infants.

For babies one year old and younger, we donate the grave space.

Cremation memorialization in the cemetery

Choosing cremation does not mean giving up a permanent place to visit.

Single cremation grave — $595. One urn burial, with the option for a small grave marker.
Couples cremation grave — $1,000. Up to two urn burials, with the option for a standard-size marker.
Private columbarium — starting at $3,795. For up to two urns.

Opening and closing charges apply separately for urn burials. The weekday urn-grave charge is $500, with an additional $500 after hours, on weekends and on holidays.

Grave markers are sold separately.

Adding cremated remains to a grave your family already owns

This comes up often, and the answer is usually yes.

Cremated remains can be interred in a grave your family already owns, including a grave that already holds a casket burial. A standard grave can hold a single casket, or up to four urn burials.

What normally applies:

Opening and closing for the urn burial — $500 Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with an additional $500 after hours, on weekends and on holidays
An urn burial vault — from $250
A graveside committal service, if you want one — $550, including tent, seating and staff

Whether anything additional applies to the property itself depends on the grave. Call us and we will tell you before you decide.

A covered place for graveside services

Our cemetery has a permanent covered pavilion for graveside services. There is no charge to use it.

It provides shade and some protection from the West Texas sun and changing weather while family and friends are at the graveside.

Come walk the cemetery

You do not have to wait until there has been a death to look at cemetery property.

Markers and monuments

Grave markers and monuments are sold separately from cemetery property.

We can help you design a monument or marker and coordinate it with the monument company for you. If you would rather buy from another vendor, contact us before it is delivered — outside-vendor markers must be approved before delivery or setting.

A $100 grave locator fee and concrete fees based on the size of the marker are assessed before a marker is set.

Cemetery maintenance and decorations

Cemetery clean-up is performed once each month.
