Our Story

First-generation. Family owned. Serving Midland and Odessa families since 2007.

This photograph was taken at my father Bob Cole's funeral. My mother, Julie Cole, is receiving his folded burial flag. My nephew is sitting beside her.

Chosen, not inherited

American Heritage came into our lives because of Bekah.

We came here in 2007.

I was more than ten years into a career at AT&T then, and for a while I did both. I could see I was going to do them both badly. I had to pick one, and I picked this.

Four years later we built the funeral home on the same property. American Heritage Funeral Home opened September 1, 2011.

The cemetery and the crematory came first. Building the funeral home gave families a place on the same ground to make arrangements, hold services and gather before burial or cremation.

Bekah and I are the first generation of our family in this work. We did not inherit it. We chose it.

We have been married since 2002. We have two sons, Jonathan and Daniel.

Why we say The Healing Starts Here

“The Healing Starts Here” was Bekah’s vision.

She had been away from this work, and she was called back to it.

That word matters to us.

We do not believe we create healing for another person. We believe that if we remain faithful to the work we have been called to do, God brings the healing.

Our responsibility is to care for people well, answer the questions they are afraid to ask, and remove the roadblocks we can.

We all follow her.

One campus, one local team

American Heritage Funeral Home, our cemetery of more than 30 acres and our crematory are together on one property in Midland.

The same local team can help coordinate a funeral or memorial service, cremation when it is chosen, cemetery property, burial and memorialization.

Services can be held in our chapel, at a family’s own church or place of worship, or graveside at American Heritage Cemetery.

When a family chooses cremation, their loved one stays on our campus. They are not transferred to an outside crematory after entering our care.

We have been serving families here since 2007.

The people you will meet

Bekah is our licensed funeral director in charge.

Our family is rooted in West Texas, and many of the people on our staff are native West Texans.

These are the people who answer the phone, meet with families, prepare for services, care for the cemetery and handle the details that have to be right.

We want families to know who they are calling, and who they will meet, before the day comes when they need us.

Meet our staff

Serving veterans and their families

Veterans and their families are an important part of the work we do here.

We help families with military honors and veterans benefits, and we offer special veteran pricing on cemetery property.

If your family has questions about veteran burial or memorialization, call us. We will help you understand what applies and what documents you will need.
