Jimmie Rance Stroud

Mr. Jimmie Rance Stroud of Odessa, TX died on May 30, 2017 at the age of 78. Jimmie was born on August 2, 1938 in Tahoka, TX. He was born to Xana Lee (XL) Stroud and Isla Ashton Bartley. He graduated from Denver City High School in Denver City, TX in 1956. and received Bachelors of Arts in History and Education from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He married Wanell Holmans on June 10, 1967, in Kermit, TX. He was a Baptist. Jimmie retired from Odessa College in 2003. Jimmie was an avid reader and enjoyed dominoes. He loved history, politics and government. He delighted in watching military and political shows. Almost every conversation a person had with Jimmie turned into a history lesson. Due to the resemblance with white hair and beard, Jimmie volunteered as Santa Claus for charities and parades. He will be remembered for the love and memories he gave to his family and friends. Jimmie is predeceased by a daughter, Milanda Tinker Bell Stroud; stepson, Dean Anderson; parents, Xana Lee and Isla Stroud; two sisters, Jeanette Ray and Patricia Morris. He is survived by his wife, Wanell Holmans Stroud; daughter, Adele Brannon and husband Lee of Superior, Wisconsin; step children, Donald Anderson and wife Darla of Lubbock, TX; Darrin Anderson of Ft. Stockton, TX and Lindia Anderson of Odessa, TX. Grandchildren are Alicia Abarca of Superior, Wisconsin; Chad Abarca of Alameda, California; Octavio Stroud of West Sacramento, California; Ramiro Lascano of West Sacramento, California; Paul Carby and wife Samantha of Ft. Worth, TX; Jeffrey Anderson and wife Casey of Odessa, TX; Ann McKandles of Lubbock, TX; Kammie Bryant and husband Doug of Parker’s Chapel, AR; Kaitlyn Anderson and friend, Jon West of Conroe, TX; Brandi Wallace and husband Andy of Cleburne, TX; Benny Wallace of Devine, TX; Brittany Morris of Midland, TX; sister, Tammie Brown and husband Gerry of Cottonwood, TX; aunt, Loretta Tekell of Tahoka, TX. 16 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
