Jared Nelson Barber

On Saturday, June 8, 2022, Staff Sargeant Jared Nelson Barber, joined his beloved grandparents "Mee- Mee" and "Paw-Paw", Kay and Jerry Romine and "Grandma Barber” Melba Barber in heaven at only 42. Jared was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was very proud that he was able to serve God and Country, he then received an Honorable discharge before starting his next chapter of life. Jared was a student of life. He loved to study and learn about things that deeply interested him, and enjoyed deep conversations about his findings. He liked knives, but didn't want to just go buy them, he studied about forging them instead. He enjoyed the Earth, and the process of planting, So before planting a garden, he learned all about it prior to planting a single seed. He was the same about his number one passion, which was Spirituality and religion. Jared enjoyed consulting with a variety of trusted individuals and tirelessly studied Scripture, particularly fascinated by the Old Testament. He was a member of Holy Cross Orthodox Church. Jared loved people and to say that he was a generous person is an understatement because he truly would give someone the shirt off his back. He was a kind, loving, gentle soul and sensitive man. If he saw his mom crying he would tear up within seconds. Jared's capacity for empathy was profound. He was not a person that required much and often gave whatever he had to others. His need for material things was minimal compared to his need for all things Spiritual. His smile went all the way to his eyes and was at times bordering on ornery, but was mostly joyous. Jared's laughter was contagious and he often had his family in stitches. He could laugh at himself which is a rare quality to have in these times. Making people around him happy was often Jared's priority in a group of people, especially his family. In a crowd of people, Jared could be found doing random things to be funny, including sitting down in the grass at a family bonfire, to clap his feet together. That memory alone puts a smile on his family's face because it was typical of Jared. Jared leaves behind a family who loved him dearly. His mother Rhonda Romine McCalman and Step-Dad Kevin McCalman, Dad Don Barber, and his wife Kimi, and grandfather, Frank Barber. Biological brother Master Sargeant Jason Barber, brothers Kyle Henderson, Mitchell Barber, and sisters Kaylie and Whitney McCalman, along with nephews Cayden, Kobe, and niece Ryann. He also leaves behind biological family members Sandra Munro (mother), and sisters Teela Martin-Mellus and Starsha Nunez. Jared also had great love for his Aunt and Uncle Rick and Janie Romine and cousins Adam Romine and Sarah Lay. Jared had too many close friends to include but he loved them and it was mutual. Jared, your wings were ready, but our hearts were not. Celebration of Life will be at American Heritage Chapel at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 24, 2022.
