Frank J. Holdampf, Jr.

Frank John Holdampf, Jr., of Midland, Texas passed away on the morning of Holy Saturday, March 26, 2016. Frank was being comforted by his oldest Son and Daughter and his many dogs including Gemma, Jasper and Annie who rode everywhere with him in his pickup truck. Frank was 81 years old. Frank was born in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 19, 1934. He was the second child, and the ﬁrst son, of Frank John Holdampf, Sr. and Clarice Lofy. Frank attended Marquette University and the Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Frank was in the Naval Reserve for 9 years. Frank was self-employed most of his life. While still in high school, he worked with his mother in Smartstyle, a fund raising business. He then started Mr. Greeting Card, a card and gift shop in Wisconsin. He also worked at ranching which he loved. He never looked happier than when he was out on his tractor or working his cattle. Frank started Patriot Oil Company, a service station and convenience store in Midland, Texas at the corner of 120 and Midkiff in 1995. People from all over the country used to stop by the station to visit with Frank who was called "Pancho" by his friends. Frank was a fighter and had strong opinions about politics and world events that he shared with the customers in person and with messages he posted on a light up sign in front of the station. In 2006, Frank ran for Justice of the Peace for the 3rd Precinct of Midland County, Texas but lost. Frank was preceded in death by his sisters Joanne Weeks and Kathy Griese who passed away within the last few years. Frank is survived by his ex-wife Barbara Ann McClurg, and his son Mark Holdampf, daughter Christine Joy and her husband MichaelYengst, and their children Cassey, Austin, Camille and Candace, daughter Sheri and her husband Alvin Pena, son Jayme Holdampf and his wife Paula and their daughters Courtney and Sydney, son Barry Holdampf and his wife Karen and their children Mathew, Megan and Kathryn and her husband David Moore and their son Mattias and Danette and her husband John Stallings and their son Forrest and Jens Kjeldsen who was like an adopted son. Frank will be dearly missed by his family and friends, but especially by his oldest son Mark who worked with his Dad from the time he was a little boy until now at Patriot Oil. His Dad was his best friend. Patriot Oil will never again be the same without Frank "Pancho" sitting in his chair at the station visiting with his customers and friends.
