Elizabeth Mae Sims

Elizabeth Mae Sims was born April 6, 1930, in Roxton, Texas, to Clark and Zora Berry. She was a woman of great faith who deeply loved Jesus and her family. She was united in marriage to Grover Cleveland Sims, Jr. on December 3, 1945. They shared 60 wonderful years together until his passing on January 31, 2006. Mrs. Sims was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life reflected grace, love, and strength. She was the proud mother of twelve children - Lyonna, Lydonda, Ollie Pearl, Mae West, Marty, Victor, Carl Wayne, Larry, Grover, Rodney, and twins Mary and Martha. She found her greatest joy in caring for her family and in seeing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren thrive. The Sims moved to Midland in 1951. Upon moving to Midland, the family united with Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Ward, Reverend G.T. Curry, Sr., and the late Reverend Johnny Mitchell. Mrs. Sims later transitioned her membership to Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Midland, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor Robert Lathan, where she continued to serve faithfully and wholeheartedly. Her children have fond memories of watching her sing in church, her voice filled with joy and praise, a reflection of her deep love for the Lord. Mrs. Sims was employed by the Midland Independent School District for 25 years, where she was known for her warm spirit, hard work, and compassion for children. Her kindness and patience touched countless lives, and she was admired by all who knew her. Elizabeth Sims was a woman of deep faith and unwavering love. She believed in the power of prayer, the importance of family, and the joy found in serving others. Her life was a testimony of strength and devotion, and her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her loving children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her laughter, her love, and her steadfast faith. Viewing will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 303 E. Shandon Ave. in Midland. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 303 E. Shandon Ave. in Midland at 10:00 AM. Interment immediately following at Resthaven Memorial Park.
