Annette Monroe

Annette Monroe, cherished wife, mother, and nana, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, at the age of 86 in Midland, Texas. Annette was born on August 30, 1939, in Junction, Texas, to Walter and Viola Buffaloe. The youngest of eleven children, she grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. Annette graduated from Midland High School in 1957, where she was a drum major and baton twirler and played clarinet in the band. Annette's love for school and friends led her to later organize and plan multiple milestone class reunions for her graduating class. Closest to her heart was marrying the love of her life, James Robert Monroe, on June 14, 1957, in Midland, Texas. Together, they built a life centered on love, faith, and family. Annette's early career was spent serving as an administrator in the medical field before she and James began their family business, Monroe Auto Supply, in 1972. James and Annette proudly served their community together until their retirement in 1996. Annette will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to her family, and her unwavering faith. Her family will forever remember her as a profound prayer warrior and spiritual protector, always praying over those she loved and making sure her children were firmly rooted in their faith. Her relationship with God was at the center of her life, and the foundation she built for her family will continue for generations to come. Annette will also be remembered for enjoying the simple things that made a house feel like home. She loved cross-stitching, working jigsaw puzzles, spoiling her grandchildren, and cooking for her family. She carefully made memory books and photo albums for each of her grandchildren, filling them with photographs and memories so the Monroe family legacy could be carried through the generations. Those books were a reflection of the way Annette loved-thoughtfully, intentionally, and with a desire to keep her family's memories close. Annette is survived by her daughters, Sherry Asebedo (Sam) of Haskell, Texas, and Stacy Brooks of Midland; seven grandchildren, Jami Sutton (Matthew), David Scarberry (Jessica), Tyler Brooks (Saren), Jaycie Alford (Braden), Candi Oviedo (Julian), Marc Asebedo (Lauren), and Christopher Asebedo (Sarah); nineteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Annette was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-nine years, James Robert Monroe; her parents, Walter and Viola Buffaloe; and her ten siblings. A celebration of Annette's life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at American Heritage Funeral Home. Arrangements are entrusted to American Heritage Funeral Home. Annette's family will forever be grateful to Hospice of Midland and to the extended family, friends, and caregivers who poured out their love during Annette's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Midland.
