Michael Orren Brooks

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Orren Brooks, 64, of Fort Stockton, TX, who departed this world on March 16, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of his home and the love of his family. Born on July 24, 1959, in Castro Valley, California, Michael was the cherished son of Johnny and Shirley Mae Brooks. On July 18, 1980, he exchanged vows with his beloved Elizabeth Bakker in Sacramento, California. Michael leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will forever be remembered by those he held dear. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Elizabeth Brooks; his beloved daughter, Alicha Brooks; his precious granddaughter, Veronica Aguilar; his dear siblings, Johnny Ray Brooks, Robert Brooks, Darrell Brooks and Dorothy Conley (Calvin); and a multitude of other relatives, including nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cherished friends, Mike and Alma Garcia. Michael was a pillar of love and strength in the lives of his family and friends. As a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, he embodied unwavering devotion and kindness. His infectious laughter and warm spirit endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him, earning him the title of the greatest friend to those within his circle. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life-whether it was sharing a meal with loved ones, dancing to his favorite tunes with his wife by his side or reveling in the camaraderie of a gathering. Michael's love for sports, music, and barbecue was matched only by his zest for life and his remarkable ability to bring joy to those around him. A gifted comedian, Michael had a talent for lifting spirits and spreading laughter wherever he went. His presence illuminated every room, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. His lifelong dream of seeing Celine Dion in concert was fulfilled in January 2020, a cherished memory that brought him immense joy. As we bid farewell to Michael, we find solace in the memories he leaves behind and the love that will continue to guide us in the days ahead. May his gentle soul find eternal peace, knowing that he made an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
