John Edward Johnson, 80, of Midland, passed away on May 16, 2020, in Midland, Texas. John was born on March 11, 1940, in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Jack and Louis Johnson. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Navy. He married Carol on May 20, 1962. John worked for El Paso Natural Gas for 35 years, during which time they lived in several places, making many life long friends. After retirement from EPNG, he worked for JWL Oil Service for seven years, and retired for a second time. John was a person that preferred actions over words. He invested his time in young people by starting and coaching baseball and establishing a Boy Scout Troop in Midkiff where he served as the Scout Master for three years. He could be counted on to help family and friends with multiple projects. He built his own home and proudly assisted with the building of the new facilities at the First Southern Baptist Church of Gardendale. John love his grandchildren and cherished his great grandchildren, they felt the same way. His legacy of commitment and hard work will live on through his family. His wife of fifty-eight years resides in Gardendale TX,a daughter , Lyn Consolino and Frank of Burleson TX, son Allen Johnson and Alicia of Midland TX, son Michael Johnson and Barbara of Midland TX, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at 2:00 PM at 1st Southern Baptist Church in Gardendale, Texas. Officiating will be Derrick Looney, eulogy and service will be conducted by Terry Easley. Arrangements by American Heritage Cemetery Funeral Home Crematory.
