Vernon Lee Richardson

Vernon Lee Richardson, born on February 16, 1948 in Arkansas to Mary Jo Tate and Ralph Richardson, died on August 7, 2022, with his son, Bryan and grand daughter Kristin at his side. Vernon, affectionately known as "Bucky" to his childhood friends and family, served his country in the Vietnam Conflict. After being honorably discharged from the US Marine Corp in (DATE)m (Rank at Discharge), Vernon returned home to his extended family in Chicago, Illinois to announce his engagement to a pretty West Texas girl he met while stationed in California, named Patsy McGill. Vernon and Pat married and welcomed their son Bryan Lee Richardson into their lives while living in Chicago. Vernon and Pat moved to West Texas shortly before Bryan turned two years old, where Vernon worked as a carpenter, meticulously finishing out many of the buildings that grew out of the Tall City skyline. Pat and Vernon enjoyed weekend road trips with their motorcycle clubs and Vernon competed in many Enduro motorcycle races in his earlier years. Vernon, referred to as Rich by Pat, his military family and many of his Texas neighbors, could often be found in the garage teaching his wife's younger siblings, neighborhood kids and Bryan how to ride, race and fix dirt bikes, rebuilding vehicles. and going fishing and camping. Besides Vernon's craftsman and mechanical skills, he was a good mathematician and took many classes at Midland College on the GI bill and even tutored local students. He was also an avid bowler and pool shark and played in many tournaments throughout West Texas over the years. Vernon and his second wife, Jeanie Marie Billingsley, his California girl, met and married in YEAR. They enjoyed owning and operating a pool hall together in Odessa, Texas. During that time Vernon and Jeanie Marie Billingsley welcomed their beautiful daughter, Acacia Marie Richardson, into the world. As grandchildren started coming along, Vernon adopted their four legged companions and spent many hours walking and training the dogs and feeding the ducks with his granddaughters at the duck pond. Vernon was predeceased by his mother, father, sisters: Judy and Debby, and both of his former wives. Vernon is survived by his son, Bryan Richardson of Midland, Texas, daughter, Acacia Richardson, Eros Also Cossyleon of California. His granddaughters: Kristin Richardson of Russelville, Arkansas, Brittney Cook Burleson of Midland, Texas, and Eros Aslo Cossyleon and great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Layton, Miles, Beckham, Tinsley and his latest furry companion, Freckles. The family would like to give special thanks to Greg and Nathan Murray and Doug Conzatti, his long-time buddies for being there for Vernon and his pets in his final days.
