Sheila Marie Hopper

Sheila Marie LeMay Hopper, of Midland went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, with her family and friends by her side. Sheila was born on October 5, 1950 in Muleshoe, TX to William Hobby LeMay and Caroline (Carrie) Bianchi LeMay. A lifelong resident of Midland, Sheila was a graduate of Lee High School. After graduation, Sheila married the love of her life Donald (Don) Hopper. Together they were blessed with three children: Daughter, Tressa Hopper Gutierrez and her husband Mitch of Midland, TX; Son, Michael (Mike) Hopper and wife Angela of Midland, TX; and Melissa Hopper Chapman and her husband Erick of McKinney, TX. Don and Sheila were very proud of their grandchildren: Alexander Mitchel and his wife Xenia, Carrie Marie, Allison Michelle and Brandon Zachariah Gutierrez of Midland, TX. Kylie Renee and Kinsey Rae Hopper of Midland, TX. Ashlyn Brooke and Brynn Leigh Chapman of McKinney, TX. Their only great granddaughter Rebella (Bella) Zaelynn Gutierrez of Midland, TX. For many years Sheila was a professional bookkeeper working for various companies including Metro Equipment, First Bankers Savings & Loan, Domain Furniture and Shorty’s Rental Center. Most recently she was the proud owner of Daisy’s Consignment. Sheila & Don were proud “Band Parents” supporting their children and “The Mighty Rebel Band” from 1988-1994. During that time they were Mama Sheila and Daddy Dono to many of the band "Kids". They made many lifelong friends during that time of which they cherished throughout their remaining years. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and brother Kenneth LeMay and wife Kathryn of Abilene, TX and their son Shawn. She will also be deeply missed by her countless friends and extended family, including her Partner-in-Crime Sue Madry, Her favorite Cousin Brenda Helmka, and her beloved adopted second-Mother Mary Greer. Sheila is preceded in death by her parents Hobby & Carrie LeMay, her granddaughter Carrie Marie Gutierrez, and her precious husband Don. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2015 at American Heritage Cemetery and Funeral Home (4100 N. FM 1788, Midland, TX 79707) from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral Services will be at 1:00pm Saturday, May 30, 2015 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church (2104 W, Louisiana Ave, Midland, TX 79701). Pastor David Johnson officiating.
