Rodney Lee Almanza

Rodney Lee Almanza, affectionately known to many as "El Loco Rodney" or "El Badboy," passed away on August 18, 2026, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas, at the age of 59. Rodney was born on May 18, 1967, in Monahans, Texas, to Salvador Almanza and Victoria (Martinez) Lujan. Growing up in Monahans, Rodney was full of energy and grit. In his younger years, he took to the ring and the court, competing in basketball and boxing, ultimately winning the Golden Gloves. Rodney was the definition of a cool dad larger than life, creative, and fiercely loyal. As the proud owner of Almanza Bodyshop, he was a true master of his craft. He loved his work, and everyone loved his custom bodywork. His talent and reputation even led to one of his ultimate bragging rights: helping fix one of Snoop Dogg's cars. A passionate fan of rock and roll and rap, Rodney could often be found tinkering with stereos and high powered sound systems, making sure the bass was just right. Above all, Rodney loved Jesus, grounding his life in faith and deeply treasuring the fellowship of his church family. To know Rodney was to love his humor and his stories. He was a natural storyteller with an incredible personality, always ready to make people laugh with tales from his childhood or his latest adventures. When he wasn't in the shop, Rodney loved being outdoors. He was a true "garden dad" who enjoyed fishing, smoking, attending concerts, drawing, and spending quiet moments outside. He had a big heart for animals, a legendary sweet tooth, an unwavering loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys, and a love for the color purple. Above all else, Rodney would do anything to protect and support his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvador "Salva" Almanza and Victoria "Nana" Lujan; his brother, Eddie Mark Almanza; and his stepbrother, Lino Lujan. Rodney's legacy of love, faith, laughter, and strength lives on through his wife, Minerva Madrid Almanza; his stepfather, Florentino "Popo" Lujan; his children, Jessenia Marie Almanza, Sierra Marie Almanza (Cody H.), and Victoria "CC" Almanza; and his stepson, Steven Ray Miranda. He is also survived by his sister, Priscilla Marie "Yaya" Almanza; his step-sister, Oralia "Ori" Rubio (Benita Arenivas); his stepbrothers, Jose Lujan and Samuel Lujan; his beloved nieces, Makijah Jayleen Almanza (Randy Salas) and Michael Mark Anthony Almanza; his nephew, Jorge Franco "Nujer" Mendoza; his three cherished grandchildren, Ava Cuevas, Aria Taft, and Seth Taft; and his loyal German Shepherd, April, who was always right by his side. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Jesus King of King Ministries, 372 E State Highway 302, Kermit, TX, 79745.
