Mildred Wallace Lewis

On Saturday, July 25, 2020, Mrs. Mildred Wallace Lewis, passed away at the age of 92. Mrs. Lewis was born on May 7, 1928, in Caldwell, TX to Mr. Johnny Wallace and Mrs. Ida Brown Wallace. She accepted Jesus Christ at a young age, and joined Galilee Baptist church in Bryan, TX and was baptized by Rev. R.W. Wheaton. She graduated from Kemp High School in Bryan, TX. In school she received many achievements from her athleticism and beauty. She continued her education at Prairie View A&M University and Texas Southern University; where she majored in Business Administration. Mildred was VERY creative!! As a result, she exceeded becoming a florist and had an outstanding relationship with Mark Knox flowers for over 40 years! Her florist creations were seen around the country and everyone loved working with her because of her bright smile, sense of humor, and creativity. In 1956, she gave birth to her beloved daughter Nicole. Her and Nicole spoke daily and shared quality time often, there were not only mother and daughter, they were best friends. Mildred had a huge impact and influence in the church as the bible was her favorite book to read. She not only enjoyed helping others she also ministers to young adults, was in the choir, and supported the usher board. Mildred was united in marriage to Rev. Hezekiah Lewis and served as First Lady of the United Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Seagraves, TX. They shared unity of love for over 30 years. Mildred Lewis was not only an amazing person, she was a leader, and trailblazer in her generation!!! Mildred Favorite Bible Scripture and what she would like everyone to remember: Psalm 23 A psalm of David. 1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. In celebration of the life of Mildred Lewis, her family has chosen to honor her in a unique way! To ensure the health and safety of everyone wishing to participate, American Heritage is hosting a memory share where those that choose can come and record their memories. These recordings will be compiled and made available online for all to see. If you would like to participate, there is no need to call in advance. We will be ready to receive and record those individuals who come in order that they arrive.
