Marijoe Thames

Marijoe Thames was born January 17, 1949, to Joe and Mary Nelson in Detroit Michigan. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 11, 2014 in Midland, Texas. She married the love of her life David Thames on June 25, 1965 in Midland, Texas. Together, they devoted their lives to their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and to family. Their story of love leaves a lasting example of love, sharing, forgiveness and sacrifice. Marijoe devoted and wrapped her energy of love into her family. The family enjoyed camping and trips leaving pictures and memories to last a lifetime. Marijoe and David were members of the Silver Bullet Bass Club, where, on Mother's Day weekend, Marijoe caught a 7.76# bass winning her "The Big Bass of the Month." Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren when they recall the stories of the simple joy of just falling asleep in her arms watching "Nick at Nite." The friendships she formed hold memories that will never be forgotten. Marijoe was preceded in death by her parents. Marijoe is survived by her husband, David Thames of Midland, Texas; a son, Richard Thames and his wife Theresa of Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee; a daughter, Lori Pugh and her husband Scott of Iowa Park, Texas; a son, Michael Dwain Thames and wife Cathy of Midland, Texas; son, Joey Thames and wife Melissa of Midland, Texas. Marijoe was the proud Mimi of 14 grandchildren, Kevin Pugh, Justin Pugh, Bethany Thames, Andrea Thames, Mikey Thames, Ricky Thames, Koby Thames, Shaylin Pugh, Austin Thames, Nathan Thames, DJ Thames, Guilo Thames, Christian Thames and Blake Thames; four great grandchildren, Madison, Nevaly, Kayla and Angel; and by three additional great grandchildren soon to arrive, adding to her legacy. Those to come will be filled with the stories of their "Great Mimi." The family wishes to thank some special "Angels" Dr. Miller, Angela Currie and Sarah Brown, for touching our lives many thanks to the many doctors, nurses and aides of Midland Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held February 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 4149, 409 Veterans Airpark Lane Midland, Texas 79705. REST NOW MIMI "Though I can't see you, I feel you are here.
