Maria Perez Lynn

Maria Perez Casas Lynn, 91, of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024, at Parks Assisted Living Center in Odessa. Born on September 20, 1932, in Victoria, Texas, to Santiago and Trinidad (Flores) Perez, Maria was a beacon of love, kindness, and faith throughout her long and fruitful life. Maria knew no stranger. Her open heart and generous spirit endeared her to everyone she met. A deeply loving and godly woman, Maria was cherished by her family and her community. She had an unparalleled gift for making people feel welcome, always with a smile or a warm embrace. Her siblings and children especially remember her great sense of humor and quick wit. Her kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her, and she was loved by all in return. A true lover of nature, Maria found joy in the beauty of flowers and the serenity of her garden. Her green thumb and dedication to her garden were a testament to her nurturing soul. She had no enemies, for her heart was too full of love to hold anything but compassion and understanding. Maria was a faithful servant of the Lord and a devoted member of the Odessa Bible Church, where she spent many years serving her congregation with grace and humility. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her in every endeavor. She took great pleasure in the simple joys of life, such as solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watching "Wheel of Fortune" and indulging in her favorite soap operas. But perhaps her greatest joy was found in her role as a mother and grandmother. Maria was a loving and doting grandmother who always had freshly baked goods waiting for her children and grandchildren when they came home from school. Her kitchen was filled with the sweet aroma of love, and her baked treats were a symbol of her enduring affection. Maria is survived by her seven children: Mary Lou Taylor (Peter N.) of Cypress TX , Nazario Casas of Odessa, TX, Rosa Lindia Casas-Chan (Frederico) of Branford, CT, Bridgette Soraya Casas of Odessa, TX, Ishmael Casas Jr. of Odessa TX, Sylvia Casas of Pharr TX, and Lorenzo Casas (Hilda C.) of Odessa TX ; sixteen grandchildren: Kori Chan, Jeremy Taylor, Kathy Lee Servin, Ignacio Zaragoza Perez III, Alisha Marie Santeler, John Anthony Razo, Alexis Rene Moore, Sheree Nicole Perez, Casey Lopez and Arthur Lopez, Federico Chan Jr. and Camille Chan, Nicolas David Casas, Natalie Nicole Jordan, Ishmael Casas III Casas, and Isabel Victoria Casas, and seven siblings: James Perez, Andy Perez, Sam Perez, Ann Blair, Olivia Rivera, Ester Mangles, and Ernest Perez. She also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry on her legacy of love. Maria was preceded in death by her grandchild, Debbie Lee Casas; her parents, Santiago and Trinidad (Flores) Perez; her siblings, Lavern Hamrie, Lilly Jimenez, Roger Perez, Robert Perez, and Joe Perez her twin, Ishmael Casas the father of her children, and her daughter-in-law, Virginia Perez Casas. Maria Perez Casas Lynn's life was a testament to the power of love, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and kindness. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
