Linda Gifford

Our dear mother, wife, and sister, Linda Carol Gray-Gifford, sadly passed away on May 25th, 2022, at the age of 74. On March 26th, 1948, Linda was born in Bartlesville, OK, to Melvin and Alice Gray. Linda was a God-fearing woman who lived a life to be an example to her family and friends. She was a vital member of the community of the Permian Basin as a lifetime member of the Texas PTA. Linda supported our troops through the charity Soldiers Angels. Linda had a heart for missionaries, loved her women's group at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, and constantly listened to gospel music. She had a love for shopping, and the family joked that she was a VIP member at Kohl's, finding all the fantastic deals. Linda had a sense of adventure and loved to travel, which led her to meet the love of her life on one such adventure. Mike and Linda met on a boat ride, where they knew instantly they would be lifelong partners. She also had a not-so-secret love for Disney World, where she made lifetime memories with the entire family. During her life, Linda wore many hats. She worked at the Social Security Administration, the United States Marine Corp., and the libraries at Bonham and Scharbauer Elementary. These jobs paled compared to her favorite job, being a mother and wife. As her children became parents, she looked forward to the daily updates on her grandchildren. One such tradition she looked forward to was receiving a daily morning picture of her granddaughter, Scout. She was preceded in death by parents, Melvin Gray Sr. And Ottis Alice Gray, brother Melvin "Bud" Gray Jr., and sister Kitty Darnell. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Mike Gifford, her supportive brother, Everett Gray, and her wonderful children, Pam Wyrick (Warren) of Kasilof, AK, Beverly Pate (Joseph) of Lubbock, TX, and Shawn Gifford (Emily) of Lubbock, TX. She lovingly doted on her grandchildren, Shane Osborne, Shawn Wyrick, Grayson Gifford, Scout Pate, and her great-grandchild, Chandler Wyrick. Funeral services are under the direction of American Heritage Funeral Home. Service officiated by childhood friend Pastor Phillip Neely. The viewing will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on May 31st, 2022. The funeral will be held at American Heritage Funeral Chapel on June 1st, 2022, at 10:00 A.M., followed by Linda's burial.
