Jose Fred "Cobra" Covarrubias

Jose A. 'Fred' Covarrubias aka 'Cobra', 57, passed away comfortably in his home to enter the spiritual world to be a SPIRIT IN THE SKY with our Heavenly Father on February 20, 2015. Visiting hours will be Tuesday and Wednesday, February 25 and 26 beginning at 9:00 a.m and concluding at 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held February 26, 2015, 12:30 p.m. at American Heritage Cemetary & Funeral Home, 4100 N F.M. 1788, Midland, TX 79707, with Pastor Manuel Perez officiating. We will then take him for his final ride to be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4616 N Big Spring St, Midland, TX 79705. Fred was born October 2, 1957 in Midland, TX and raised by his parents, Fred and Emma Grado. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. Where he later married the mother of his children, Lydia Rodriquez, and was blessed with six children. Cobra lived a wild and crazy life, but was a very respected man. He was blessed with many talents from building custom homes, to his fancy artwork and to what he truly loved, playing his guitar. Many will remember his many performances at his favorite hangout Riley’s Bar & Grill, amongst other places. Fred is survived by his mother, Emma Grado, two sons, Christopher Grado and Alexander Grado, his three daughters, Mary Alice (Aaron) Flores, Roseanna ‘Bonnie’ Grado and Frances 'Kiki' (Jerry) Strambler, his ten grandchildren whom he loved the most, Marcus, Jordan, Miguel, Ayanna, Deyanna, Gilbert, Ciera 'Dot', Robert-Issak 'El Pollo', Angel, Jerry and baby Leah all of Midland. His survivors also include his biological mother, Josefina P. Covarrubias, seven sisters, Amparo (Augustine) Garces Jr, Suliva (Frank) Gutierrez of Midland, Rose (Frank) Urias of Fort Stockton, Irene (Steve) Ornales of Midland, Irma (Conrado) Molinar of Midland, Patsy (Abel) Ochoa of Midland, Patsy (Abel) of Midland, Lilia (Noel) Rodriguez of Midland; four brothers, Martin Grado, Carlos (Vickie) Covarrubias of Flagstaff, AZ, Hector (Mirella) Covarrubias of Midland and Mario Covarrubias of Midland; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Federico ‘Fred' Grado, his son, Gilbert Covarrubias, his grandmother, Francisca ‘Kika’ Covarrubias, his brother Desiderio 'Desi' Covarrubias as well as his biological father, Ricardo Covarrubias. The family would like to give a special thank you to Compass Hospice Home Health Care and their staff for their service and support in helping Fred thru his battle with cancer. Arrangements are entrusted to American Heritage Cemetery and Funeral Home.
