John Allen Miller

John Allen Miller, age 61, of Monahans/Odessa, Tx, passed from this life unexpectedly on September 6, 2025, at his home in Monahans, Tx. Born on September 5, 1964, to his parents, John and Joyce (Hirrill) Miller, in Ft. Stockton, Tx. Allen is well known for his personality, humor, and care of so many family & friends. He has been a staple in the world of delicious food, managing multiple restaurants in his life. Most notably, his 15+ years of service & dedication to building relationships with his customers over the years at Johnny's Bar-B-Que in Odessa, by spreading laughter and smiles with anyone who walked through the door. Being the loving, caring person he was, always willing to help anyone he could, to showing up to birthday dinners, reunions, or funerals, giving love and support to all in their times of need, happiness & joy. While being one of the biggest Texas Longhorns fans you could ever meet, he always tried to make time for any Longhorns ball game, whether it be Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, or Football. If he could not watch in person or live on television, you could bet anything he was recording it. He has made it a point over many past years to make it to at least one football game a year. He almost never missed the Texas Longhorns vs. Texas Tech Game in Lubbock, where he would be rooting for the Horns from the Texas Tech side bleachers sitting next to his Best Friend, Sister, and Brother-in-Law. Even when they made him wear a Texas Tech shirt so he blended in, there was no question he had a Longhorns shirt on underneath, wearing it loud and proud. His love and support for the Longhorns was unmatched, which always made birthday and Christmas presents easy-anything to do with the Longhorns-having well over 100 items in his collection of memorabilia. Although being the best fan of the Longhorns, that never took priority to anything related to his family or his nieces & nephews, which he referred to all as his kids. Twelve years ago, one of Allen's best friends, Toots (Toni Sawyers), passed away from a battle with Breast Cancer, leaving an empty void in his heart, since the two were almost inseparable, always texting & calling each other. This left his remaining siblings, Christi & Scott, to fill the void left in him, as the three of them worked together in filling each other's voids. Something unexpected happened several years back-Allen's whole perspective on life shifted for the better. After years of searching, he found Sal, his best friend, who has made him happy in so many ways, helping to fill the void in his heart. The two would take many trips together to one of their favorite places, Ruidoso, NM, football games all over Texas, and camping trips on the weekends just to get away for the weekend. Allen is going to be loved and missed deeply by so many people, but he is being reunited at the Gates of Heaven with his Father, two Sisters, Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents-giving long overdue hugs, I'm sure, after he stops at the bathroom from all the Dr. Pepper he was drinking on his trip to Heaven. He will be standing on the 50-yard line for every Longhorns Football Game, yelling at the coaches or waiting for his turn to play. Allen is survived by his best friend, Sal Vasquez & Family; his mother, Joyce (Hirrill) Miller; his sister & brother-in-law, Doug & Christi (Miller) Foote; his brother & sister-in-law, Scott & Jodi Miller; his brother-in-law, George Sawyers; all of his well over 20 nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews, along with many cousins and extended family. Allen is preceded in death by his Father, John F. Miller, and Sisters, Toni Sawyers & Angela Miller. Viewing will be held before the funeral on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Robin Horne, with interment at Monahans Memorial Cemetery in Monahans, Texas.
