Jane Mary Nielsen

Jane Mary Nielsen, 66, of Odessa, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015, in Odessa at her home after a lingering illness. She was surrounded by her family. She was born on January 12, 1949, in New Castle, Pennsylvania to polish immigrants, Walter and Rozalia Krok. Growing up, she enjoyed singing in the church choir, playing tennis, attending Polish festivals, listening to the Beach Boys and Mo-Town music, and trips to New York City with her family. She graduated from New Castle High School in 1966. In 1969, she married Michael Luczak. He was in the Air Force and was stationed in Hawaii; where they lived for two years. She loved her time in Hawaii, especially, luaus and going to the beach. Upon returning to Pennsylvania, she gave birth to her first child, Jackie in 1972. She met her second husband, Jon Nielsen, in New Castle in 1980. They married on May 9, 1981 and welcomed two more daughters, Jenny (1982) and Monica (1983). The family moved to Odessa, Texas in 1984, where her husband would continue as a police officer and she as a hospital Monitor Tech. Her entire medical career spanned 35 years. She retired from Medical Center Hospital after 20 years. In her free time, she loved, reading, swimming, and crossword puzzles. She always kept herself busy, with her children and grand-children, grocery store trips, and garage sales. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved selflessly. Following retirement, she and her husband became involved with the Iron Pigs Motorcycle Club. They enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, going to rallies, and hanging out with their friends. She made friends easily, wherever she went and was adored by all those who met her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Carol Reed. She leaves behind her loving husband of 34 years, Jon Nielsen. She also leaves her children, Jackie and husband Todd Freeman of Odessa, Jenny and husband Justin Dorsey of Fort Worth, and Monica Deming of Odessa. Step children, Paul and Marife Nielsen of Odessa, and Andrea and Polly Porter of Mesa, Arizona. She also leaves five beloved grandchildren, Mackenzie Freeman, Megan Freeman, Cree Doctor, Colton Deming, and Cooper Dorsey. Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2015 at American Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Tamplen officiating. Interment will be in American Heritage Cemetery. Services entrusted to American Heritage Cemetery and Funeral Home.
