James Michael Peek, II

James Michael "Mike" Peek II left this life and went to his Heavenly Home on January 6th, 2024, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was born on August 21, 1966, at Midland Memorial Hospital to James Michael Peek and Phyllis Newby Peek. Two weeks later, he moved to Monahans, TX, where he grew up and attended school. During his time in school, he was on the swim team and received several awards for perfect attendance. Growing up, he enjoyed fishing with his dad and grandads, Bill and Clark, and hunting with his dad, brother Patrick, and uncles Rick and Don. Mike moved back to Midland after school in May of 1984. He attended Midland College briefly then began his working career. He soon met Dianne Jolly, and they had two children, Laura Erica Peek and James Michael Peek III. Later on, he rekindled a relationship with one of his former classmates at Monahans High School, Evangelina Madrid. She was the love of his life, and they were married on November 30, 1996, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Midland, TX. From this union were born Emily Marie and Erin Mykayla Peek. Mike was proud of all his children. After having many careers, including driving trucks all over the US (Mike loved the open road), Mike found his "home" at Alldredge Gardens. He delivered furniture, maintained the storage shop, and eventually worked on the outdoor crews. Mike liked being outside and loved putting up Christmas lights for customers. Children, dogs, and cats always responded to Mike wherever he went. Mike loved watching old classic TV shows and movies, such as Jack Benny, Burns and Allen, Carol Burnett, and Gunsmoke. He could name many actors and actresses who showed up later on in other entertainment venues, and what they had previously been in - he knew their voices. Mike also had the ability to remember every road or area he had travelled once he had been there. Mike was always ready to help anyone, friend or neighbour, with anything. Mike is now reunited with his maternal grandparents William F. "Bill" and Myrza Lee Fusilier Newby; paternal grandparents Monroe Clark and Vivian Buttrell Peek; aunt Karyn Wood Basse; and uncles Rick Wood and Don Collier. Those left to cherish his memory are his children Laura Erica Peek, James Michael Peek III, Emily Marie Peek, and Erin Mykayla Peek; his parents James Michael and Phyllis Newby Peek; and brother Patrick Peek. Mike was wonderfully cared for by many "Angels of Mercy" at Midland Memorial Hospital. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Blane Shepker, Jermain Griffin, Ben Rodriguez, Russell Johnson, and Trevor Johnson. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Midland, Texas, followed by interment into Holy Trinity's columbarium. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mike's name to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Services have been entrusted to American Heritage Cemetery and Funeral Home.
