James V. McReynolds

James Vandale McReynolds passed away early in the morning of March 14th2026. He was 91 years old. James was born 4th of 5 children on September 6th, 1934 on the family farm in Patricia, Texas to Marion Francis McReynolds and Elsie Lea Cox. James was raised in Patricia with 4 sisters: Nora Francis, Dorothy Lea, Colleen and Mavis. He attended Klondike High School and after graduation at age 18, he entered the Marine Corp in 1953 toward the end of the Korean War. James proudly served till 1956 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He found the love of his life in a beautiful, loving woman named Katherine Adams and they married July 3, 1973. The marriage blended James' 4 children and Kathy's son. They spent 52 years together and worked to love and support those five children and later a bountiful harvest of grandchildren. Dad began his work life as a bookkeeper for oil and gas companies and later moved into sales to support his family and to fund his many hunting and fishing trips. His love of the outdoors extended to teaching his friends, children and grandchildren to appreciate and explore nature, to protect and preserve it and always use its resources wisely. We are blessed by this legacy given to us. James is survived by his wife of 52 years Kathrine Adams McReynolds and their 5 children and spouses; Amanda Darling and Jerry, Kevin Vandale McReynolds and Karla, Wendell Marion McReynolds and Kim, Ronald Mathew Gillaspy and Genia, Thomas Aaron McReynolds and Holli. These children blessed them with 21 Grandchildren, 42 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great, Great Grandchildren. Dad dearly loved his sisters and grieved the loss of Nora Francis Mears and Dorothy Lea Godwin several years ago. He was blessed to see both of his surviving sisters Colleen Aunnita Jackson and Mavis Yvonne Thompson this past October. They had such fun! He so loved his many cousins, nieces and nephews and all of us loved his perfect BBQ. We miss you Dad! We love you!! Memorial Service to be held on March 27th at 2:00pm - American Heritage Funeral Home, 4100 N FM 1788, Midland Texas. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to your favorite charity in James' name.
