Helen Wilson

Helen "Grandma GG" Wilson, was born on February 9, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and peacefully transitioned from this life on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in her home in Midland, Texas. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Jim Wilson, on December 22, 1951. They shared a love that saw Jim serve in the US Army before they settled back in Cincinnati, Ohio. The couple then made their home in California, purchasing a house in 1956 in Glendora on Charvers Ave. It was there that they raised their children, created lifelong friendships, and hosted countless neighborhood celebrations. In 2018, the couple relocated to the Permian Basin to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. An avid knitter and cross-stitcher, Helen's true joy came from travel. She loved to cruise, sightsee, camp, and fish. Known for her sweet smile, quick wit, and kind words, she lit up every room she entered. Following the passing of her beloved Jim, Helen moved to Polo Park Estates, Midland, Texas, where she made new friends and cherished time spent with her family. Helen is now reunited with her late husband, Jim Wilson, and their son, Robert "Rob" Wilson. She is survived by her brother, Lee Richardson of Eugene, Oregon; her daughter, Kathleen "Kathy" Young, and Kathy's husband, Bob Young, of Midland, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Katherine Wilson of Cameron Park, California; grandchildren Amanda Martin (Tony Martin), Daniel Young, Christopher Wilson, and Sean Wilson; and great-grandchildren Sophia Rice, Grant Young, and Oliver Young. Helen will be remembered for her warmth, hospitality, and loving spirit. A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor at American Heritage on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Midland, 911 West Texas Ave. Midland, TX 79701 in Helen's memory. In passing, Helen has found reunion with her beloved family members and rejoices with our Lord and Savior. She will be deeply missed by her loved ones and friends left behind.
