Harvey Ray McKinney

Viewing will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2014 beginning at 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at American Heritage Cemetery and Funeral Home. Celebration of Life at the family home Sat. 2:00 pm. Harvey is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Harvey Edward Hector and Joy Earlene Hill Hector Parker' his paternal grandmother; Estella Ruth Wright McKinney, Aunt Rita Kaye Hector Higginbottom and Uncle Hubert Donald McKinney. He is survived by his wife, Angeline McKinney, two sons, Haygun Ray (Gunz), and Hoss Ray McKinney and one daughter, Victoria Faye (Ray) Morales, as well as his parents, Doyle and Beverly McKinney, his brother, Steven McKinney and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews & Friends. Due to a tragic accident, Harvey went to heaven on Wed. Aug. 20, 2014 with his adopted brother, Laban Robokoff, who had been a part of their family for 4 years. Harvey excelled in school and was blessed with many God given talents. He was a Cub Scout. He graduated from Midland High School. Harvey was an entrepreneur at an early age. He owned and operated West Texas Lawn Service during high school for several years. He was a master at mechanics. He learned roofing from his paternal grandfather, Hubert McKinney, and Uncle, Donnie McKinney. Harvey went on to learning the pumping unit business from his dad, Doyle Ray McKinney and grandfather, Harvey Edward Hector. who owned and operated M & H Pumping Unit Service. A third generation pumping unit service was begun when Harvey Ray McKinney, like his Grandfather Hector. Harvey invested in a one ton truck and the necessary tools and began operating Rayco Pumping Unit Service. "Ray" being a family legacy, Doyle Ray, Harvey Ray, Steven Ray, Haygun Ray, Hoss Ray, and Victoria Ray. Harvey met his wife, Angeline "Angie", on a Christmas Eve night. It was love at first sight. As they danced, gazing into each other's eyes, hearts melting, Harvey knelt on one knee and asked Angie to marry him. She told him she would if he would get up. That was the beginning of a new and wonderful relationship bonding as one. They enjoyed doing everything together. They were soon married. Angie said Harvey was a REDNECK and everything he did was REDNECK. They married at an RV Park in Big Spring, TX. They both rode in on separate Harley's. They had a mud-hole wrestling match ending the affair with Angie and the new mother-in-law, Beverly McKinney, having a cake fight. Soon they were blessed with a family. Harvey was a devoted husband, father, son and brother. His brother Steven, who was also injured during the accident shared that, "without his brother, he would never have lived life. Harvey was his dad's best friend. He will be greatly missed. At family gatherings Harvey and Angie would entertain everyone singing their favorite songs, "In Spite Of Ourselves", "Would you Lay With Me" and "Jackson", Harvey was the rock of his family. To know him, was to Love him. His love for his cousins was as deep as the love is for a brother and sister. There will be a Celebration of Life in the Memory of Harvey at their family home on Sat. 2:00 pm. Messages to heaven for Harvey and Laban will be sent from the family and guests by a release of 1000 balloons. As Harvey always said, "Just One More"! Memorials can be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation also in memory of his papa, Harvey Hector. All arrangements are entrusted to American Heritage Cemetery and Funeral Home.
