Evelyn Jeanette Harmon

Evelyn Jeanette (Edwards) Harmon; Jacks wife, our mother, grandmother, sister and friend left this earth on March 13, 2015 to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on October 18, 1944 in Madison Indiana to Paul and Emma Edwards. She was on of eight children. She grew up and attended schools in Jefferson County Indiana. Evelyn met and married Robert (Bobby) Ritchie in 1961 and together they had four children. Bobby passed away on December 1, 1969 and she later met and married Berrell (Jack) Harmon November 7, 1970. In 1972, her last child Michelle was born. On November 5, 2000, Evelyn and Jack renewed their wedding vows in front of God with Pastor Bob Porterfield officiating at West Kentucky Baptist Church in Midland. Evelyn worked at Frishes, Fiesta and Southwerstern Schools in Hanover, Indiana as well as various other jobs until her disability forced her to retire in 1984. In 1983 she and her family moved to Midland, Tx. where she resided until the time of her death. In her younger years, Evelyn really enjoyed fishing, motorcycle and 4-wheeler riding, as well as playing bingo. She also enjoyed crocheting blankets and dolls. She collected music, trinket boxes, chimes and crosses. She also enjoyed playing video games and farmville on the computer until her eyesight no longer allowed her to do so. She enjoyed going to church, being with family and friends, children and grandchildren. She loved it when Kaleigh would visit. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of forty-four and a half years, Jack Harmon of Midland, TX; daughters, Betty Williams of Sidney, MT, Georgette ALvarado of Midland, TX; sons, Doug Ritchie of Midland, TX, and Robert Ritchie of South Texas; sisters, Carolyn Lemmon and Sally Kidd; brothers, John Edwards, George (Rita) Edwards, Jack Edwards and David (Margaret) Edwards, all of Madison, IN; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mommy and daddy, Emma and Paul Edwards; daughter, Michelle Harmon Lee; sister, Linda Chatham; sister in law, Dorothy Edwards; brother in law, John Kidd; nieces, Holly White and Carolyn Simpson. Children hold their mother's hands for a little while, but their hearts forever. Mom, we will forever love you and miss you dearly....Until we meet again. A memorial service will be held Monday, March 16, 2015 1:00 p.m. at Cottonflat Baptist Church with Pastor Rick officiating. All arrangements are entrusted to American Heritage Cemetery and Funeral Home.
