Bennie Norman Rose

Bennie Norman Rose, 81, of Midland, TX, took his last trail drive on Saturday, July 01, 2023. Bennie was born on November 10, 1941 to J.T. and Mary Lee Rose in Crowell, TX. Bennie graduated from Midland High School in 1961, after graduation he enlisted in the Army Texas National Guard. While enlisted he received his Sharpshooter badge. His military career ended in 1969 after his service term was complete. He was baptisted at Calvary Baptist Church, February 12, 1978. He then worked on several local ranches, doing what he loved being a cowboy. He went on to own and work in construction, building metal buildings, farming and ranching. Bennie and Betty Sue met in 1964 and went on to have 4 children, Will, Shelia, Melinda and Mary. In 2006, Bennie met Franzell Britton in Midland, TX. They lived a beautiful life until her death in 2016. Bennie loved ranching more than anything his career offered. His retirement offered him time to tinker on small engines, work on his tractor and train his horse and sit on the front porch with his dog Biscuit and talk with the Lord. I can promise you he's happy, though I know you can't pretend, You're glad he made the journey, it's too hard to comprehend. The earthly way you look at things can never satisfy, Your lack of understanding for the answer to the "Why?" So, I offer this small comfort to put your grief to rest, I only take the top hands "Cause my crews the very best. And I know it might seem selfish to Friends and next of kin, But I needed one more Cowboy and Bennie Fit right in. It is never good-bye just see you later. Bennie was prodeceased in death by his parents J.T. and Mary Lee Rose, wife Franzell Rose, brothers Charles Rose, and Larry Rose, and daughter Shelia Scott, and lifelong friend Betty Sue Rose. He is survived by siblings: brother Jim Rose (Bobbye) Rose, sister Madaline (Lanny) Cole, brother Lester (Carol) Rose, children Will (Shelbie) Rose, Melinda (Greg) Jackson, Mary (Joe) Weddle, 10 grandchildren, 13 Great-grandchildren, 8 nephews and many cousins, family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are his nephews: Rob Rose, Jim T Rose, David Rose, Dustin Rose, Tommy Cole, Heath Cole, Chad Rose and Clay Rose. Visitation will be held at American Heritage, 4100 N FM 1788, Midland, TX 79707 on July 7, 2023 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Memorial Service will be held at Cottonflat Baptist Church, 6409 South State Hwy. 349, Midland, Texas 79705 on July 8, 2023 at 10:00am.
